~ You get to be very specific with your mash bill and create a whiskey that is perfect for your palate. If there is a whiskey you love dearly, you get to create something similar using a similar mash bill.
~ You are getting a Master Distiller to custom make a whiskey bottle specifically for you, down to the ABV (alcohol percentage), paying special attention to amalgamating and resting the mash bill without chill-filtering it for the utmost in flavor complexity.
~ You get a custom label on your whiskey to take ownership of the fact that it’s your completely unique whiskey.
~ It comes in an exquisite decanter with a beautiful glass closure, all set in a Designer Dram case to complete the experience.

The founders of Designer Dram envisioned and executed a bespoke experience for every whiskey lover, from designing your custom whiskey on the website to the bespoke, luxury whiskey packaging, and we hope you love it.
We have worked with Master Distillers across the US to select the best barrels that taste delicious and complex on their own, but also marry well together to create a myriad of different flavor profile opportunities.
We also worked with four different Master Distillers to create our Proprietary Palate Test, that will build your whiskey for you based on your unique taste preferences.
Your custom whiskey is made in Santa Barbara, CA by a team of passionate distillers. Every whiskey made is overseen by our incredible Master Distiller who has a PHD in chemistry and a crazy knowledge for all things whiskey and distilling. His impeccable standards will ensure every bottle of Designer Dram is executed to perfection.
Technically, a dram is 1.5 ounces (45ml), though Designer Dram bottles are 750ml (25.4 ounces).
Our whiskey is non chill-filtered for the utmost in complexity and quality.
THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT NON-CHILL FILTERED WHISKEY
We don’t chill filter Designer Dram bespoke whiskey, to preserve the flavor and ensure the complexity of your unique flavor profile.
Non chill-filtered whiskey is coveted by enthusiasts for this very reason. It is argued that they have an intimacy, an extra warmth and depth to them, and we’re proud to be able to offer this to our whiskey lovers.
Our Master Distiller is incredible in the way he works with whiskey and is able to proof and maintain the gem-like quality that most whiskey lovers love to see in their whiskey without chill filtration.
Any non-chill filtered whiskey, however, may become cloudy when exposed to extremely cold temperatures or if you pour it over ice.
This does not mean it is flawed in any way. It just means that it’s non-chill filtered!
If this does happen, give your bottle a little shake, and you will be set. The cloudiness you see are just fatty acids, which translate to layers of flavor.
Without a doubt. Our aim is to keep the experience of crafting your whiskey consistently compelling and exciting and you can expect to see additional barrel selections as time goes on.
For the most part, yes. Remember that every barrel is unique, and takes on flavor in it’s own way, so although the major flavor components of the whiskey you previously ordered will be present, there may be some different notes in your consecutive whiskey.

We understand that creating bespoke whiskey is something new to most people. That’s why we created our Palate Test to ensure that you get the whiskey that is perfectly curated for your unique palate.
After you select your preferred tastes in the Palate Test, you are redirected back to Step 1 of the Whiskey Builder, where you can view the selections we’ve made for you and still adjust quantities as desired.
We also have our Mash Bill Creator. If there is a particular whiskey you love, you can input the mash bill into our Mash Bill Creator and we will allocate barrels to emulate that mash bill as closely as possible.

Yes! We understand you are excited about the unique whiskey you have created for yourself and may want to share it with the world. When you do, we want to show our appreciation for your highlighting of our brand and introducing people to the world of bespoke whiskey by giving back to you.
Whenever you place an order, we send you a unique link to your creation with a picture of your bespoke whiskey as well as what has gone into it. You can share this link with your friends, family and followers through email , text, blogs or social media.
What’s special about this link is that anyone who views it has the ability to buy your creation. If they choose to buy a bottle that you created, we will thank you by giving you $10 for every bottle bought. It gets better though. If someone is intrigued by your whiskey and chooses to create their own, we will still give you $10 for the whiskey they create for themselves.

Custom whiskey isn’t a quick process, it is truly bespoke in every way, from the crafting of your whiskey to the resting period, and the personalized label that goes on it. We are dedicated to perfection in every facet of your experience. When you think about how long it would take to create an entire barrel of whiskey – a minimum of two years – the time you have to wait for your Designer Dram is a merely a fraction.
Shipping alcohol is also a complex process which accounts for a lot of the 2 – 4 week timeline, as all alcohol shipment are highly regulated at both a federal and state level.
We can get bespoke whiskey to most customers within 2 – 3 weeks (depending on location) from the time of order, though we give a 2 – 4 week timeline to account for any delays that may occur. We are currently averaging 2 weeks from time of order.
Designer Dram Experience kits have the same timeline of 2 – 4 weeks for delivery, because of the complexity of shipping alcohol. We average 2 weeks from the time of order, depending on location and courier, although we give a 2 – 4 week timeline to account for any delays that may occurs or for additional state regulations that result in longer delivery windows.
Please note that orders placed during holidays periods (Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah etc) may result in longer delivery timelines due to courier strain.
Yes. Please note that we can not expedite the creation of your whiskey because of our incredibly high standards and attention to detail, although we can expedite the shipping time once it is ready to ship out. In most cases, shipping time accounts for the largest portion of your wait, so reach out if you need your whiskey in a hurry!
Do note that not all states allow expedited shipping of alcohol.
Please note that we have no control over the shipping process. We are bound by regulations to use the three-tier shipping system for alcohol deliveries (Distillery > Distributor > Shipping network > Customer) and it is at the discretion of the shipping network as to which couriers are used for which states. We can not take requests for certain couriers as everything about the shipping process has to comply with regulations and this process in not in our hands.
Once your product leaves our facility, we unfortunately have no control over the shipping process (though we wish we did). We do our best to assist with any challenges that may arise, however, we always encourage customers to communicate directly with the courier as they will have firsthand information and may need additional information or convenient delivery windows that only you, the customer, would know best.
We hear you! There are fewer things that say: “I put thought into this”, than a truly custom bottle of whiskey and we wouldn’t want you to be discouraged by things like shipping time. After you place your order, feel free to reach out to our team to send you a beautiful email template, along with all the unique whiskey details that you can pass on to your gift recipient to let them know you created something special for them, and that’s it’s on its way.
Since this is a fully customized product, made specifically according to your requirements, we can not accept returns.
